Certifications and Licences

Mold work in Florida is licensed work. This page lists what we hold, what each licence means, and how to check any company’s licence yourself before you let them into your home. Check ours first. We insist.

Florida mold licences (DBPR)

Florida licenses mold professionals through the Department of Business and Professional Regulation, under Chapter 468, Part XVI of the Florida Statutes. There are two licences, and the split between them is your protection.

Licensed Mold Assessor, MRSA. The assessor inspects, samples, and writes the report that says how big a problem is.

Licensed Mold Remediator, MRSR. The remediator does the containment, removal, and cleanup.

Florida law bars the same party from assessing and remediating the same job inside a 12 month window, so the person who measures your problem never profits from exaggerating it. When you hire us for both an inspection and a cleanup, the assessment and the remediation are handled under the separation the law requires, and your scope states it in writing.

How to verify a Florida mold licence yourself

  1. Open the DBPR licence search at myfloridalicense.com
  2. Choose licence search and enter the licence number, or search the business name
  3. Check three things: the licence type (MRSA or MRSR), the status (current and active), and that the name matches the company on your quote

If a company will not give you a licence number, or the number belongs to a different name, stop there. This check takes two minutes and it is the single best screen against the unlicensed operators who appear after every storm.

The standard our work follows

Our remediation work follows ANSI/IICRC S520, the Standard for Professional Mold Remediation used across the industry. It is the document that defines containment, negative air, HEPA filtration, and post remediation verification. Following S520 is a practice standard, not a licence, and we describe it that way on purpose: licences come from the state, standards come from the industry, and certificates come from training bodies. Companies that blur those three are telling you something.
